World at Night
Everything looks different at night. Common locations that are buzzing with life from dawn until dusk become empty. Beyond that, the primary source of light becomes artificial, often creating stark contrasts and emitting a variety of color. I often get a strong feeling of euphoria when walking alone in these types of environments in the middle of the night; a feeling similar to that of nostalgia. There is something about isolation at night, even when in unknown areas, that also brings a peaceful calm that is nearly impossible to replicate during daylight hours. Rather than feeling alone, depressed, scared, or nervous, I feel content in the silence. Maybe I just like to escape the constant, chaotic claustrophobia and anxiety that often comes with crowds of people; or maybe there really is something magical about the night.
